Islamabad (Sapeher Times) Federal police arrested 370 accused involved in serious crimes during the past one week. They recovered drugs, illegal weapons, and ammunition.Out of these،296 were court absconders, proclaimed offenders, and people with previous criminal records.74 more were arrested for drug selling and keeping illegal weapons.Recoveries from the accused،5,550 grams of ice،6,058 grams of charas،1,210 grams of heroin،114 bottles of liquor،03 guns،02 daggers،37 pistols of different sizes along with ammunition،Cases have been registered against all the arrested people, and further investigation is going on.Search and combing operations،Under the supervision of zonal SPs, police also carried out big search and combing operations in different areas to control crime and protect citizens’ lives and property.During these operations, police checked،2,823 people،1,149 houses،235 shops،52 hotels،1,557 motorcycles،565 vehicles،For further checking, 130 suspicious persons, 137 motorcycles, and 3 vehicles were taken to different police stations. During the search operations, 6 more pistols and 31 bullets were also recovered.DIG Islamabad Ali Waseem’s statement،DIG Islamabad Ali Waseem said that Islamabad Police is working day and night to protect citizens’ lives and property and to eliminate crime. He said the police will continue search, combing, and intelligence-based operations to make actions against criminals more effective.He further said that under the “No to Weapon” campaign, police is taking strict action without any discrimination against people who keep illegal weapons, display weapons, or do aerial firing. At the same time, effective steps are being taken to arrest proclaimed offenders and people with previous records, eliminate drugs, and provide quick justice to citizens.DIG Ali Waseem directed officers that during search operations they should respect citizens’ dignity and follow the law. He also asked them to keep a strict watch on suspicious activities.He said that cooperation between police and citizens is necessary to end crime and maintain peace in the city. He appealed to citizens to immediately inform the nearest police station or the emergency helpline”15” if they notice any suspicious activity or person, so that timely action can be taken to prevent crime.
