Pakistan’s new energy vehicle (NEV) market is currently experiencing explosive growth. With Chinese brands like MG Motors expanding their footprint in the country, NEV ownership and market penetration are rising rapidly.
This boom has created a critical shortage of skilled technicians in maintenance, diagnostics, and after-sales services, becoming a key bottleneck limiting the healthy development of the industry. The launch of the China-Pakistan NEV High-Skilled Talent Training Center of Excellence directly addresses this market demand, leveraging China’s advanced vocational education resources to build a localized training platform integrating talent development, skills certification, and industrial services.
Jointly supported by Chinese and Pakistani institutions, the center will introduce China’s advanced vocational education standards for NEV maintenance, diagnostics, and related digital skills.
This includes professional curricula, localized teacher training programs, teaching equipment, examination and assessment software, and vocational certification systems. It will provide systematic skills training for Pakistani youth while delivering high-caliber technical talents to Chinese automotive enterprises operating under the Belt and Road Initiative in Pakistan.
The project not only fills the gap in vocational education for the NEV sector in Pakistan but also serves as a bridge for China-Pakistan people-to-people connectivity, embodying the cooperation philosophy of “small yet beautiful, people-centered and benefit-driven”. By creating high-quality employment opportunities for young Pakistanis, the center will drive the transformation, upgrading, and green development of the local automotive industry.
As the core implementing partner, UNI International stated: “Telling China’s stories well, promoting Chinese culture, and leveraging China’s vocational education to serve China’s major-country diplomacy are the shared mission, responsibility, and commitment of our China-Pakistan team. Moving forward, we will continue to advance China-Pakistan vocational education cooperation with the philosophy of ‘Serve with Heart, Serve the Future’, injecting new vitality into the all-weather strategic cooperative partnership between the two countries.”
