Islamabad (Sapeher Times) FIA Anti-Corruption Circle Islamabad Arrests 28 CDA Employees in Fake Degree Case
The Anti-Corruption Circle (ACC), Islamabad, of the Federal Investigation Agency has arrested 28 employees of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) on charges of securing government employment on the basis of forged and bogus educational degrees and certificates.
The arrests were effected today, 02 March 2026, after the Learned Court of SJC-II, Islamabad, dismissed the pre-arrest bail applications of the accused persons.
The case pertains to FIR No. 109/2025 dated 04-12-2025, registered under Sections 109, 420, 467, 468, and 471 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC), read with Section 5(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1947.
According to the investigation, the accused persons serving in various grades from BPS-05 to BPS-14 in CDA—fraudulently obtained government employment by submitting fake and fabricated educational degrees and school certificates. Through this unlawful act, they allegedly secured public posts, salaries, and other benefits to which they were not legally entitled, causing loss to the national exchequer and undermining merit-based recruitment in public service.
The role of the concerned recruitment committee members, verification authorities, and approving officers is also under rigorous investigation. Documentary evidence is being scrutinized to ascertain the extent of involvement, if any, of officials who may have facilitated or overlooked the illegal appointments.
The accused persons will be produced before the competent court tomorrow for further legal proceedings in accordance with the law.
The FIA Islamabad Zone reaffirms its unwavering commitment to combating corruption and ensuring transparency and merit in public sector recruitment. Strict action will continue against individuals involved in fraudulent practices and abuse of authority.
