New York – 22 September 2026 (Sapeher Times) : Chile “supports the sovereignty of the Kingdom of Morocco over its entire territory, including the Sahara region, and “considers the autonomy proposal put forward by Morocco in 2007 to be the just, lasting, and mutually acceptable political solution”.<\/p>\n
This position was expressed in a joint communiqu\u00e9 signed following talks held Monday in New York, on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly, between Morocco\u2019s Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, and his Chilean counterpart, Francisco P\u00e9rez Mackenna. The meeting was attended by the President of the Republic of Chile, Jos\u00e9 Antonio Kast.<\/p>\n
The joint communiqu\u00e9 further states that “Chile has decided to translate its support into bilateral action and will promote economic and trade cooperation opportunities in the Moroccan Sahara region to strengthen investment, trade, and productive development”. It also states that Chile “welcomes Security Council Resolution 2797\/2025 and endorses it, joining the calls for the parties to engage in negotiations without preconditions, on the basis of Morocco\u2019s autonomy proposal, with a view to reaching a definitive political solution acceptable to all parties”.<\/p>\n
